COVA and the Learner's Mindset

The COVA learning approach can enhance your experience in this program by shifting the focus from traditional, one-size-fits-all teaching methods to a more personalized and self-directed learning journey. With COVA, you gain the freedom to choose what to learn, how to learn it, and the resources you want to use. This approach can correct issues associated with rigid, didactic teaching models, fostering deeper engagement and critical thinking.

While the benefits are substantial, challenges such as self-discipline and time management are an issue as you take greater control of your learning. Transitioning from a structured environment to a self-directed one can also be daunting for some. With COVA, you can select topics that genuinely interest you, take responsibility for your learning, express your ideas, and engage in authentic, real-world tasks.

Ultimately, COVA nurtures a learner's mindset characterized by curiosity, resilience, self-efficacy, openness, ownership, and adaptability, empowering you to embrace your learning journey with confidence and enthusiasm. Throughout this program, I found myself reaching towards this type of mindset and I am working towards instilling this frame of mind in my students as well.
