My instructional design course focuses on teaching and applying graphic design fundamentals. The course applies real-world projects and assignments, requiring high-quality work and offering opportunities for revisions. The course outline follows a student-centered approach with clear objectives, activities, and assessments, blending face-to-face instruction with online collaboration using Google Classroom. The COVA approach is integrated, providing students with choices, ownership, voice, and authentic learning experiences throughout the course. For the implementation of my online course I chose Google Classroom as my Learning Management System (LMS) due to it being a district requirement and familiarity among stakeholders. The course starts with a "Getting Started" section containing essential information and links for students. Each module features an introduction video, hands-on activities, and discussions, with weekly ePortfolio updates for reflection. The course design emphasizes student-centered activities but includes teacher-led guidance and feedback. It's a blended course, combining in-class and online components. Completing the usability testing for the course design revealed both strengths and areas for improvement. Feedback was gathered from various sources, including 2 educators and 3 students and Google Forms was chosen for the survey. The feedback was largely positive, with minor areas needing attention. Adjustments were made to refine instructions and supplement resources, ensuring clarity and smooth progression. The process involved diverse perspectives and helped enhance the overall learning experience. Conducting usability testing deepened understanding of students' digital needs and collaborating with educators provided valuable insights for further improvement.
