The Power of Words

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

"The only way to change someone's mind is to connect with them from the heart." -Rasheed Ogunlaru

Humans are driven by emotions, personal experiences, and beliefs. This plays a significant role in how we perceive things. Facts are essential but they are not enough to inspire people to change. We need to appeal to their feelings, emotions, and beliefs to reach them. This is where the power of words comes in. By creating a message that connects to people emotionally we can go beyond facts and reach the hearts of our audience. Bombarding your audience with more facts will not be effective if you are trying to influence them. They need to be inspired, encouraged, or have a sense of belonging. To motivate people it is important to reach both their hearts and their heads.

The structure of your video message should...

  • Grab the attention of your audience. Use a hook to grab their attention.

  • Clearly communicate why your topic matters.

  • Reach your audience emotionally.

  • Clearly state the action you want to convey.

  • Provide your message with relevant facts and data.

  • Use visuals such as images, infographics, and videos that enhance the emotional impact of your message.

It is essential to reach both the head and heart of your audience by appealing to their emotions, and values, and inspiring them to take that step forward.
